In 2001, Team Penske returned to race at the Indianapolis 500 after a six-year hiatus and earned its first 1-2 finish in the legendary race with Helio Castroneves capturing the checkered flag followed by teammate Gil de Ferran. The duo repeated the 1-2 finish two years later, this time with de Ferran bringing home the Borg Warner Trophy.
