Logano Leads Penske Charge in Daytona 500 Qualifying

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 17, 2013) - Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford, qualified ninth for the Daytona 500 Sunday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway, leading the Penske Racing contingent. Logano's teammate, and defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion, Brad Keselowski qualified 23rd.

• Logano led the charge for Penske Racing in the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford. The 22-year-old driver put down a lap of 45.973 seconds (195.767 mph) to lock down the ninth position.
• Logano's lap time was the exact same, down to the thousandths of a second, as the No. 18 of Kyle Busch.
• Keselowski, in the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford, ran a lap of 46.163 seconds (194.961 mph) putting him in the 23rd position.
• The unique qualifying format of the Daytona 500 will see both the Logano and Keselowski run in the same 125-mile Duel race on Thursday afternoon. Logano will start fifth and Keselowski will start 12th in the first Duel race on Thursday.

"Well, we were the second -fastest Ford, so that is a good thing. I wish we were a little faster than that though. It was really good in practice yesterday and we tuned it in the best we could and we brought some more speed for sure today to qualifying. This field just feels like it is really close compared to normal. It's like two or three one-hundredths would move us up four or five spots. That means we are close, we just need a little more speed. Overall our guys put in a good effort and we will tune her up and get her practicing before the Duels and try to get a good starting spot." - Joey Logano on his qualifying run.
